1. Achievements
This year, Hua Chenyu has completely updated the setlist and arrangements. The arrangement theme is “East-West Fusion,” skillfully blending traditional Chinese instruments such as guzheng, xiao, and pipa with Western instruments like harp, Scottish bagpipes, and Irish flutes. Through the collision of Eastern and Western musical elements and cross-cultural art fusion, he has expanded his musical boundaries anew.
May 4 is the first anniversary of the sunrise concert. 2,000 drones were launched to simulate the sun and spell out the words: “You are my sun — by Big Brother. (你们就是我的太阳 ——大哥)”, setting a record for the number of drones launched above the concert venue. (Due to the large gathering of people at the performance site, for safety reasons, the launch of such a large number of drones is usually not allowed.)
During the Foshan concerts, the fans ate a total of 3 tons of rice in three days (“Chenyu Fried Rice” was distributed for free, each fan could line up multiple times to receive a 50ml cup-sized serving).
2. Anecdote
Hua Chenyu opened the performance by singing the Baroque rock-style song “Illusion and Reality“ while descending from mid-air on a spiral-shaped lift stage fully decorated with diamonds.
The hit song “Ashes from Fireworks“ from Hua’s debut album “Quasimodo’s Gift” was composed by indie musician Xilou. Hua Chenyu stated during his cover of Xilou’s representative work “Child“ on “Singer 2018“ that “Ashes from Fireworks“ could be seen as a prelude to “Child“. He masterfully fused the harmonies of both songs, finally presenting them in mashup format this time.
Similarly, Hua mashed up two songs - “Extraordinary Ordinary Life“ and “Beauty Yet Revealed to Me“. Originally twin tracks sharing the same melody with different lyrical themes and arrangements, they were remixed under the new title “From Ordinary to Beauty Yet Revealed” and incorporated into the medley segment.
On the second day of the Foshan concerts, there was a heavy rain. But the heavy rain didn’t dampen the fans’ enthusiasm – many of them started playing in the rain, which eased Hua’s worries about everyone.
Also, during the Foshan concerts, the fans ate a total of 3 tons of rice in three days (“Chenyu Fried Rice” was distributed for free, each fan could line up multiple times to receive a 50ml cup-sized serving).
Hua Chenyu engaged in “weather-based bet” with fans during concerts in various cities. This was a plan inspired by his “Little Sun” legend (believed to bring sunshine to concert dates). It was decided that if it rained, Hua would win, and if it was sunny, the fans would win, with both sides experiencing victories and defeats. As punishment, Hua danced to the choreography from the “Bizarre Psychology AKA
Quirky Psychology“ MV in Xi’an. Later, in Qingdao, he proposed and fulfilled a reward of enjoying the sight of fans singing from the audience while eating and drinking on stage.A different sentence was printed each day on the long ribbon paper that was sprayed at the end of the performance.

Fuzhou
On March 8-9, Hua Chenyu launched his annual tour with two consecutive concerts in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province in southern China.
The March 8 premiere coincided with International Women’s Day. Hua Chenyu sent special blessings to attending fans by SMS: “As spring blossoms, Fuzhou extends its invitation. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, may each unique soul among you become the wind, the ocean, and an eternal flame, forever growing towards the sun! - Hua Chenyu 2025.3.8”
During the second day’s performance, immediately after singing “Arrival“, the lift stage malfunctioned. With parkour-like agility, Hua leapt down multiple platform levels consecutively, igniting frenzied cheers throughout the venue.
Changsha
On March 22-23, Hua Chenyu returned to his debut city Changsha to hold Concerts for two consecutive days.
A drone conducting high-speed aerial filming around and the stage crashed at a corner of the platform, with the entire incident broadcast live on the giant screen in first-person perspective.
While singing the line “There is a letter, A letter for you from the future” in “Let’s Go and Watch the Sunrise“, Hua pulled out a letter from his chest. The stationery featured a simple sketch widely cherished among the fans: Hua and ET sharing a kiss at sunrise.
During the second day’s concert, Hua made a weather-based bet with fans, rooted in his “Little Sun” legend (believed to bring sunshine to concert dates). Despite prior continuous rain, Changsha experienced unusually scorching weather during the concerts, followed by a sudden temperature drop the next day. Hua pledged that If the next concert in Xi’an also has clear skies, fans win—and he’ll grant one collective wish.
Xi’an
April 5-6 (Qingming Festival holiday in China), Hua Chenyu held consecutive concerts in Xi’an, an ancient capital of 13 dynasties.
On Day 1, Hua mentioned “keeping the performance more family-friendly” as his father and sister were in the audience, while teasing a “an outfit requiring prolonged mental preparation” for Day 2. Fans speculated wildly about its boldness, only to discover a full-body leopard print ensemble the next day.
The most renowned historical site in Xi’an is the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor’s Terracotta Army. Staffs from a Terracotta Warriors-themed musical troupe watched the lives in Qin Shi Huang and warrior cosplay. During the performance of “Light Up the Bonfire at the Galaxy’s End“ they joined fans’ dancing in the arena pit.
While filming a vlog at a snack street the day before, Hua passed by a fan girl without being recognized. At the concert, Hua publicly screened the coincidentally recorded encounter, jokingly awarding her an autographed “reunions feel distant” (from “In the Morning Light, There’s You“ lyrics) certificate, and gifted her a whole set of merchandise.
Having lost the weather-based bet with fans (no rain occurred), Hua voluntarily proposed fulfilling the wager by dancing to choreography from his “Bizarre Psychology AKA Quirky Psychology“ MV - his first official concert dance performance. On Day 2, Hua executed the routine wearing Lop-eared rabbit shaped woolen hat, then turned completely red from shyness.
Foshan
China celebrated Labor Day from May 1 to 5, and Hua Chenyu held three consecutive Theme Park-style Concert from May 2 to 4 in Foshan. The third day (May 4) marked the first anniversary of the sunrise concert, and Hua prepared many surprises for the Martians.
Hua Chenyu sent gift boxes by express delivery to audiences in the inner area (CN¥1280/980). The boxes included a small bottle of perfume, lipstick, a key-shaped ornament, and a plastic wristband.
Hua Chenyu has twice posted photos on social media of himself cooking fried rice. Encouraged by enthusiastic Martians, he promised to treat everyone to his “Chenyu Fried Rice.” He shared his fried rice recipe and set up “Chenyu Fried Rice” booths, offering free portions to all (each person could line up multiple times to receive a 50ml cup-sized serving). At the concert, he mentioned that a total of 3 tons of rice were consumed over the three days.
During the live broadcast on the day before the performance, Hua Chenyu fried rice at the stall on the spot. He originally wanted to distribute the fried rice to the fans who were watching outside the venue, but due to the large safety distance on both sides of the enclosure, he couldn’t hand it out and had to give up with regret.
Various facilities in the concert were upgraded, including:
- Air-conditioned rest area in the VIP section (The large tent was enclosed with transparent plastic, allowing people to rest while still being able to watch the concert at the same time.)
- All areas provided free drinking water, ice, and anti-heatstroke medicine.
- Several high-end mobile toilets and changing rooms were set up, with an increased number of women’s restrooms, along with a variety of feminine products.
- After a brief heavy rain on the second day, when the lawn became muddy, buckets and water hoses were provided for washing feet.
In the afternoon sessions of the concert, the usual game segment was replaced with an Airplane Chess featuring various obstacles, intentionally designed to make Hua receive “punishments.” He ended up doing many things he normally wouldn’t do, such as dancing, mimicking emojis, taking rapid selfies, and creating live drawing.
In keeping with local traditions, a lion dance troupe was invited to perform in the plaza on the third day.
On the first day of the concert, the weather was hot. On the second day, there was a brief heavy rain during the middle of the event. The game segment was skipped, and many pieces of equipment were damaged. Repairs caused a 20-minute delay to the evening session. During the rain, audiences were allowed to leave the venue to take a break, and re-entry was arranged once the rain had stopped.
The heavy rain didn’t dampen the fans’ enthusiasm – many of them started playing in the rain, which eased Hua’s worries about everyone. During the evening session, he mentioned that he had seen various videos online of fans having fun in the water.
On the third day, to celebrate the first anniversary of the sunrise concert, Hua had a custom cake made (see photo).
Zuo Li prepared a custom banner (see photo), with the words: “This is a remarkable first anniversary of the sunrise concert!”
- The surprise of the evening show on the third day was that 2,000 drones were launched to simulate the sun and spell out the words: “You are my sun — by Big Brother. (你们就是我的太阳 ——大哥)”. It had been kept secret from the fans all the time. The drones could only be flown when the weather was fine at night. So, since the daytime, Hua had been particularly worried. He checked the sky several times and talked about various topics related to the sky.
- On the third day, just like during last year’s sunrise concert, over ten thousand fans who couldn’t get tickets gathered outside the venue to watch. Hua Chenyu greeted them through the big screen. During the “kiss” segment, he even asked the cameraman to come onstage and zoom in close, so that his face would appear more clearly on the big screen, making it easier for those watching from far outside the venue to see.
Qingdao
On May 17, Hua Chenyu continued his live tour in Qingdao.
Due to rain on the second day of the Foshan concerts, Hua won this “weather-based bet”. He proposed wanting to experience the joy of fans eating, drinking, and lying down to watch the Theme Park-style Concert, so tables, chairs, and food were set up on stage. While enjoying barbecue, Hua listened to fans choral singing of “Light Up the Bonfire at the Galaxy’s End“ from the audience. Hua also toasted with the band and downed a glass of beer on the spot.
Chengdu
From May 31 to June 1, coinciding with China’s traditional Dragon Boat Festival and International Children’s Day respectively, Hua Chenyu held two consecutive concerts in Chengdu.
This year, the VJ for “The World is a Zoo“ features real-time rendering animation that randomly transforms the singer and audience into cartoon animal images, which is quite intriguing. For the Chengdu concerts, it was a panda-themed special edition, where everyone’s transformed image became a panda, and the background turned into a bamboo forest habitat scene.
During the live stream the night before the concert, Hua accepted fans’ suggestions and challenged a high ponytail hairstyle for the second day’s performance. Additionally, since Hua announced the high ponytail during the first day’s concert, fans flocked to take overnight flights to attend! Tickets sold out completely that same day. During the performance, Hua, who noticed fans’ overnight travel updates on social media, kindly reminded everyone to rest and eat properly.
Also during the live stream, Hua agreed to bring a camera on stage when the opportunity arises, allowing everyone to see his perspective from the stage. True to his word, after the performance, Hua released a first-person selfie video specially recorded during rehearsals, showing his entrance descending onto the stage from above.
