“Sound Trek 2025 (声鸣远扬)” - Singing Competition
1. About the show
Hua Chenyu has been invited to serve as a resident judge for the final stages (elimination rounds) of the singing competition “Sound Trek (声鸣远扬) 2025”. Starting from November 9, 2025, the program is broadcast live every Sunday at 7:30 PM across multiple TV stations and various apps, including YouTube.
Yin Xiumei, a national treasure-level soprano singer in China, and Na Ying, a legendary female singer who holds an unshakable top position in the Chinese music industry. Na Ying and Hua Chenyu first met through the music program “Infinity and Beyond 2023“ and have since built a profound friendship.

The three judges continuously presented the hosts with difficult challenges, leading netizens to jokingly dub them the “Demon Orb (魔丸) Mentors” (a reference to the popular Chinese animated film series “Ne Zha”). Throughout the episode, Hua remained consistently strict in checking the contestants for “off-pitch” singing.

Hua revealed for the first time why he didn’t showcase his most proficient styles or many original songs during his time on “Superboy 2013.” He explained that by the time he realized he should have meticulously envisioned his future career path, it was already too late—the competition had reached its final stages (around the Top 5 to Top 3). He shared that his first original song released after the competition, “Why Nobody Fights,” was composed in a style intended for mass sing-alongs at the Bird’s Nest (Beijing National Stadium), after he had firmly identified his path toward large-scale stadium concerts.
Consequently, Hua assigned the contestants a task: to formulate an initial blueprint for their future direction.

In this episode, Hua’s scoring was extremely rigorous, based on “assignment grading” standards. He evaluated performances comprehensively from two aspects: not just the quality of the performance, but also its alignment with the contestant’s future career blueprint.
Fellow judge Yin Xiumei reversed the roles by giving Hua an “assignment,” commissioning him to create a new musical work.

Wang Meng, China’s former short-track speed skating champion known as “The Queen”, couldn’t help but go on at length while guest-commentating on a contestant’s performance, recalling the time she performed a duet with Hua on a variety show.
