I am What I am (我)
On April 6, 2018, Hua Chenyu sang the late Asian superstar Leslie Cheung’s masterpiece “I am What I am (我)” in the singing contest “Singer 2018” EP12.
1. About the song
Hua Chenyu sang “I am What I am” for the first time in his debut show “Superboy 2013” and entered the top 9, eventually winning the championship.
After that, on the last day of his annual Mars Concert, Hua Chenyu would sing this song as an encore song for his fans. The reason is that this, his favorite song, is a profound representation of what it means to be a human being.
In “Singer 2018”, Hua Chenyu performed this song on a stage other than his personal concert for the first time since his debut. In order to pay tribute to Leslie Cheung, he appeared on stage in pajamas and made no changes to the arrangement.
