About the Fans (Updated on Jan. 2026)

Information and anecdote about Hua Chenyu’s fans.

1. Nickname

When first debuted, Hua Chenyu was often referred to as the “boy from Mars (火星弟弟)” by the media, due to his slightly strange personality. Hua simply made “MARS” his image symbol, and also gave his fans the nickname “Martian (ET)”.

Because Mars is a red planet, Hua’s support color is “red”. Fans always wear red clothes or tie red ribbons on their wrists when attending shows, that’s why their first nickname was “Miss Martian (火小姐)”.

At Mars Concert 2014 and Mars Concert 2015, Hua Chenyu changed the song “Miss Dong (董小姐)” to “Miss Martian (火小姐)” and sang it.

However, no one knows when, the image of a black sphere began to become popular. Fans gave themselves the name “Charcoal ball (黑煤球)”. According to fanarts, Black Coal Ball, who always follows Hua Chenyu (Big Brother (大哥)), occupies the position of Hua Chenyu’s pet.

At the Mars Concert 2023, Hangzhou performance, Hua Chenyu called the audience “Charcoal ball” for the first time.

Hua and his pets

In “MARS CONCERT 2018”, Hua claimed to be the uncle of the “Er-jie (二姐)” (actress Zhang Xinyi)’s unborn baby, and also recognized fans as “aunts”.

During the 2023 Guangzhou concert, right before his most high-energy song, Hua Chenyu used a then-viral internet meme in his MC segment: “Princess, please dance” (公主请蹦迪). This moment led to “Princess” becoming the official nickname for all his fans—even male fans are affectionately called “Male Princesses.” Since then, it has become a tradition at his concerts for the staff to address every audience member with the honorific “Princess” while providing assistance.

2. Participate in Creation

Hua Chenyu often invites fans to participate in his creations and performances.

Why Nobody Fights

To create the mysterious “choir-inspired” feeling that he wanted, many people would need to participate. Hua then invited his fans to participate. One hundred fans gathered at a large orchestral recording studio to complete the accompaniment and achieve the dramatic choral effect he had hoped for.
Throughout the night, Hua Chenyu continued to provide guidance to the fans participating in the recording.

I Don’t Care

On May 30, 2015, Hua invited 100 fans to record the harmony when recording the Remix version (Real-Me version) as an advertising jingle.

Conversations with Martian Children

This is Hua Chenyu’s first duet song since his debut, showing the bond between him and his fans.
Hua invites fans of all ages and social status to sit around and chat with them, and then organizes the chat content into lyrics.
This communication process was also recorded into a MV. In the MV, Hua and fans asked each other questions and wrote down what they wanted to say to each other.

3. Formal Performance

When fans sing together at formal events (such as live concerts or music festivals), they call themselves the “The Martian Super Band (ET天团)”. “天团” means “top idol group”.
In an SNS post in 2016, Hua recognized the title of “The Martian Super Band” and called himself “just an accompanist.”

Quasimodo’s Gift

MARS CONCERT 2016“ Shanghai performance is The Martian Super Band’s debut stage.
Since then, Hua will serve as an accompanist at every personal concert, providing The Martian Super Band with the opportunity to perform.

The World is a Zoo

When performing the song “The World is a Zoo (世界是个动物园)“, Hua always sings “oiaioiaioiaiaio” with a random melody and makes his fans repeat it. The melody gradually becomes more complex, and it always ends on a high note that fans can’t sing, thus becoming a reason for Hua to laugh at his fans.

King and Beggar

This song is also a masterpiece of The Martian Super Band, but every time they sing it, they always get the wrong beat in the last line. So they was laughed at by Hua every time because of this.

Why Nobody Fights

This is Hua’s first song written specifically for fans and is suitable for thousands of people to sing together in a big venue like a stadium. Hua always sings this song with fans at live performances and music festivals.

Ashes from Fireworks

On the first day of Mars Concert 2018, The Martian Super Band sang two songs: “Ashes from Fireworks“ and “My Skateboard Shoes 2016“.
The harmony at the end of “Ashes from Fireworks“ was a new version adapted from “Child“, which has never been released before. But The Martian Super Band tacitly sang it correctly when they heard the melody for the first time. It surprised Hua Chenyu a lot.

Aliens” of 120,000 Yuan

On the second day of Mars Concert 2018, at the insistence of The Martian Super Band, Hua allowed them to sing Aliens with his improvised piano accompaniment.
Because of this song, the concert exceeded the scheduled end time by 6 minutes, causing Hua to pay a fine of 120,000 yuan. Therefore, this song was later nicknamed “Aliens of 120,000 Yuan”.

For Forever

The Chinese pronunciation of “For Forever“ is similar to “Hua hua loves me”.
At Mars Concert 2018, Hua personally admitted this nickname and made a request: “If you change the title of the song to ‘Hua hua loves me’, it will be your turn to sing! I just need to fly around in the sky!” Then he sang the song while flying above the stadium seats.

Conversations with Martian Children

Half a month before “Mars Concert 2019“, Hua released this song, giving fans enough time to learn to sing. Then in “Mars Concert 2019“, The Martian Super Band and Hua’s first duet was successful.

Opening Show of “The Coming One: Crystal Time

The opening show was a rock song “Aliens“. Hua climbed onto the railing in front of the stands while singing. The all-girl audience became even more enthusiastic.
As a result, the audience’s chorus was too neat and had to be reshot.

Opening Show

Illusion and Reality

The song has a marching section, and for the studio version Hua altered his vocals and recorded nearly a hundred tracks to sing out this kind of chorus-like momentum. However, from the Mars Concert 2024, Hua has left this chorus to the fans, and has been pointing the microphone at the audience from start to finish.

Here We Are“ Rap PK Suona

In the Mars Concert 2024 tour, “Here We Are“ was re-adapted into a Chinese Folk version, and a suona solo was added as accompaniment in the rap before the end.
Suona is called the “instrument rogue” because of its high-pitched loud sound, and its sound can even overwhelm an entire symphony orchestra.
Hua Chenyu invited the audience to sing this rap together, and after practicing at each stop of the tour, it gradually evolved into a PK battle between the audience’s rap and the suona solo.

Ship of Theseus“‘s Polyphonic Harmonies

Polyphonic Chorus of “Ship of Theseus”

This song’s arrangement incorporates polyphony, a compositional technique where multiple independent melodies overlap simultaneously. During the recording process, Hua Chenyu performed the female polyphonic parts himself. At every live performance, fans spontaneously hum those female parts, creating a breathtaking and ethereal effect through a chorus of tens of thousands of voices.

Singing “Light Up the Bonfire at the Galaxy’s End“ for Hua as He Dines on Stage

After winning a “weather-based bet” against his fans during the rainy Foshan concerts in Mars Concerts 2025, Hua Chenyu proposed a fun trade-off for the Qingdao concert: he wanted to experience the same pleasure fans have—relaxing, eating, and even lying down while watching a concert! Consequently, at the following Qingdao concert, the fans performed a full sing-along of “Light Up the Bonfire at the Galaxy’s End“. This allowed Hua to relax on stage, enjoying local barbecue and beer. He even shared a toast with his band and downed a full glass of beer on the spot.

Warm House“ Sing-along

During the Mars Concert 2025 Shenyang concert, Hua responded to a request from the live stream comments from the night before, by performing an impromptu accompaniment for “Warm House“. Although there was a brief moment where he played the wrong note since it was unrehearsed, the song has since become a regular sing-along staple at his concerts.

We Meet When Flowers Fade“ — A Long-standing Chorus Tradition

Originally, during the rock theme park-style concerts, the musical transition featured only a keyboard solo accompanied by artificial snow effects. However, it became a tradition after the audience spontaneously began singing along. Since then, even in four-sided stadium stage concerts, it has become a staple for Hua himself to play the piano and accompany the fans as they sing in unison.

Maestro Hua: Leading the A Cappella

Since it rained at the previous Chengdu concert, Hua Chenyu won the “weather-based bet” again for the Zhengzhou concert. His prize request was an a cappella chorus performed by the entire audience. He divided the tens of thousands of fans into three vocal sections based on their seating areas and taught each group a one-measure melody. By snapping his fingers and waving his arms to conduct the rhythm while singing the lead melody himself, he led the entire stadium in a collaborative a cappella rendition of “Mayfly“.
