“Ace VS Ace (王牌对王牌 )” Season 7 - Variety Show
From February to May 2022, Hua Chenyu participated in the variety show “Ace VS Ace (王牌对王牌 )” as a regular guest for the fourth time. Starting from Season 4 in 2019, Hua has starred in “Ace VS Ace” for four consecutive years.
1. About the show
“Ace VS Ace (王牌对王牌)”, the most popular variety show in China in recent years, is a large scale indoor sports TV show. In each episode several well-known guests such as singers, actress, and TV hosts are invited to participate in games and advertise their own products. Each episode has a different theme.
In addition to Hua Chenyu, the “Ace Family” that appears in every episode and competes with other guests, also includes Guan Xiaotong (actress), Jia Ling (comedian) and Shen Teng (comedian who participated in the same travel reality show “Flowers on Trip” with Hua). Starting from Season 6, in addition to the fixed host Shen Tao, Song Yaxuan, a member of the CPOP Boy Group TNT, has also been invited to serve as the host assistant.
Hua Chenyu is in charge of music in the “Ace Family”, and in the talent show segment, Hua usually covers songs related to the theme of this episode. He can also achieve excellent results in music-related games.

EP1 Experience Song Dynasty culture

This episode tells about the culture and customs of the Song Dynasty about 1,000 years ago. Hua Chenyu put on two sets of traditional costumes: “Young Gentleman Hua” and “Football Hua”.
In the talent show, Hua performed a cross-border partnership with Mao Weitao, a Chinese Yue opera actress-singer and a founding member of the acclaimed Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Yue Opera Troupe who also served as its president from 1999 to 2018.

“Wind and Cloud (风云：雄霸天下)” is an action blockbuster adapted from the long-running martial arts comic of the same name that is extremely popular in Asia.
Hua appeared in the cosplay of the main character, Bu Jingyun (Cloud) and sang the drama’s theme song.

This episode looked back at the masterpieces of Chinese animation over the decades.
Everyone accepted the dubbing challenge under the guidance of professional voice actors. Hua wore a Sun Wukong costume and voiced the main character Ne Zha in the animated film “Ne Zha (哪吒之魔童降世)”.
Hua and young drummer Hu Yutong sang the theme song “Break The Cocoon (破茧)” of the animation “Soul Land (斗罗大陆)” adapted from the popular online novel of the same name.

On April 13, 2018, Hua Chenyu adapted Chinese singer Angela Chang’s masterpiece “Shouts (呐喊)” into hard rock, and performed it in the 2nd round of the singing contest “Singer 2018” finals. Later, at the Mars Concert 2018, Hua Chenyu released a new original song “New World” composed based on this adaptation, and released his 4th album, which has the same name “NEW WORLD”.
In this episode, Hua Chenyu and Angela Chang sang these two songs that have a deep connection with both of them.

During the singing session for his loved ones, Hua publicly mentioned his mother for the first time. Hua wrote and sang “Flowers in a Small Town” to his terminally ill mother during her final months in the hospital.
