“The Coming One: Crystal Time” (明日之子：水晶时代)
On June 15, 2019, Hua Chenyu participated in Tencent Video’s girl idol discovery and development variety show “The Coming One: Crystal Time (明日之子：水晶时代)” as a regular mentor.
1. About the show
This season, the contestants are divided into two groups: “START” and “RESTART” based on whether they have debuted before, and the number of mentors has also increased to six. As one of the six members, Hua pays more attention to vocal music and stage presence.
Girl contestants will attain their “Strongest Brand Names” through constant progress. In addition to Hua Chenyu, the regular mentors include Stefanie Sun(a Singaporean female singer who can represent the Chinese music scene), Song Dandan (one of China’s top actresses/comedians), Long Danni (the most famous founder of China’s idol talent show), Mao Buyi (champion of “The Coming One Season 1”), Meng Meiqi (a member of the Chinese girl group “Rocket Girls 101” in 2018). Through tasks, practices, exams, the contestants will grow under the guidance of the mentors and eventually produce the “Strongest Brands.”
2. Anecdote
- The person who got this job was HCY148’s new member “Sa Sa (飒飒)”. With his slightly curly short hair and charm like a comic book protagonist, he was called “飒飒” which means valiantly dashing.
- The opening performance was a rock song “Aliens”. Hua climbed onto the railing in front of the stands while singing. The all-girl audience became even more enthusiastic.
- Also during the opening performance, the opening song had to be re-shot because the fans’ chorus was too neat.
- Hua was ill again this season, but still taught the contestant how to play the drums handsomely despite his illness.
